Silent Guardian

Less than Lethal Weapons, coming soon to a protest near you. Our glorious leaders, always in search of a new ace up the sleeve, are deploying an entirely new generation of weapons. Dubbed "less than lethal", they supposedly do not kill. But, tellingly, their manufacturers and the government do not call them "non-lethal". Why? How many people are now dead by Taser, or by rubber bullet?

Add to the list, Raytheon's Ray Gun, a directed energy weapon. It focuses an intense beam of microwaves on the target, a frequency of microwaves designed to penetrate exactly to a skin depth necessary to cause a sensation of excrutiating burning. What happens if it's trained on your eyes? Or if it is held on you for a prolonged period? No one will say.
